Providence Commemoration Lab: A Retrospective, 2025

Limited edition: 200 copies, 6 x 9 inches

This was a limited edition publication for which I served as Editorial Lead/Art Director. The book was designed to tell the story of the Providence Commemoration Lab (PCL) that ran from 2024-25. PCL was run by the City of Providence Department of Art Culture Tourism and the Rhode Island Historical Society, funded by the Mellon Foundation and the American Rescue Plan. The year-long Lab commissioned nine artists/artist groups and three writers to site and stage temporary projects in public space that invited unexpected ways of understanding commemoration as a communal process of historical redress and spatial reclamation. This book was a retrospective encapsulation of the many people, places, processes and perspectives that shaped this Lab over the year. The book consisted of a main publication, accompanied by the writers' chapbooks, a set of artist postcards, and an ecosystem map.
